What is Research? 

The term "research" refers to a search for information. Research can also be defined as a scientific and systematic search for relevant information on a given topic. The term "research" should be used in a technical meaning because it is an academic activity. Study, experiment, observation, analysis, comparison, and reasoning are all used in research. In reality, research is all around us.

 

A logical and systematic study for novel and valuable information on a specific topic is known as research.

 

According to D. Slesinger and M. Stephension (1930)  “the manipulation of things, concepts or symbols for the purpose of generalizing to extend, correct or verify knowledge, whether that knowledge aids in the construction of theory or in the practice of an art”.

 

 

According to William Emory Research is “any organized enquiry designed and carried out to provide information for solving a problem”

According to the new Oxford English Dictionary research is “the scientific investigation into and study of material, sources etc in order to establish facts and the reach new conclusions”.

Redman and Mory said research is “a systematized effort to gain new knowledge’’.

According to the Advanced Leaner’s Dictionary research is “A careful investigation or inquiry specially through search for new facts in any branch of knowledge”
