What is Hypothesis?

When a researcher evaluates current information and decides to investigate a topic, he must first start with a Hypothesis. To put it another way, one must take steps toward developing a provisional solution. These precise solutions make up the Hypothesis. The collection will be fruitful if the facts (data) are either for or against the proposed solution. The research process starts with a hypothesis or a solution.

When to make a Hypothesis?

We don't get hypotheses ready-made. This is particularly true in the social sciences. Because in many social sciences, there isn't a well-developed theoretical order. As a result, many social science researchers devote a significant percentage of their time to developing hypotheses. As a result, it's important to remember that study can only begin with a well-defined hypothesis.

Definition of Hypothesis

  1. In the words of George A. Lund Burg “ a hypothesis is a tentative generalization the validity of which remains to be tested……. In its most elementary stage the hypothesis may be very bunch, guess, imaginative data, which becomes the basis for action or investigation”.
  2. Goode and Hatt defined it as “ a proposition which can be put to test to determined validity”.
  3. Rummel “ a hypothesis is a statement capable of being tested and there by varified or rejected”.
