Types of Research Design

Exploratory Research Design (Formulative Research)

Exploratory Research studies are also termed formative research studies. Exploratory research is a preliminary examination of a well-known issue that the researcher knows little to nothing about. It is comparable to a doctor's initial examination of a patient experiencing an unfamiliar illness in order to gather information for identification.

Descriptive Research Design

A descriptive study is an accurate fact-finding examination. It is a scientific study using samples. Compared to the exploratory study, it is more focused. Because it concentrates on specific facets or characteristics of the problem under study. It is intended to collect descriptive data and offers information for creating more-complex research. Data are gathered using the proper techniques.

Action Research

Action Research is a type of evaluation study. It is a concurrent evaluation study of an action program launched for solving a problem. Action research is otherwise called Apply Research.

The many stages of action research are as follows.

  1. An analysis of the pre-action scenario from the base lane.
  2. A feasibility analysis of the suggested action plan
  3. Making program plans and starting it.
  4. Program review that is ongoing
  5. Modifying and changing the strategy and its action plans in light of the research findings.
  6. Final Evaluation.
